Shoot straight from the job
Tap the camera on the job and it opens directly, skipping your Photos app entirely. Snap the photo and it uploads right away.
Tag it Before, After, Progress, or Other
Every photo gets a category right when you take it, plus an optional caption. That's enough to note what you're looking at without writing an essay.
Lives on the job, not a separate gallery
You don't need a standalone photo app to open and cross-reference against your job list. The photo sits on the same job record as your notes and your hours.

Tap the camera icon on any job and the camera opens immediately. You won't detour through your phone's Photos app or wait through a separate import step first.
Don't want to shoot fresh? Adding photos from your Library is supported too. Either way, picking or capturing a photo uploads it right then. There's no staging area to review and confirm first. It lands straight in the job's gallery.
That's really the whole feature. There's no crew to coordinate with over who already took the shot and no shared drive to check. Just you, the job, and a photo that's saved before the phone goes back in your pocket. It's built for one person running the job alone, not a team passing photos around.
Every photo you shoot sits on the same job record as your notes and your hours. Open the job later and it's all still there together.
Tag & Caption
Every photo knows what it is
Tag each photo Before, After, Progress, or Other right when you take it, not in some separate metadata screen you'll never open again. Add a caption too, if the photo needs a sentence of context a category alone can't give it.
Free accounts get 5 photos per job. Pro raises that to 50. Hit the cap and Werkly tells you why, instead of quietly not working.
One thing to know: there's no drawing or markup on photos. No arrows or circles on the image itself. A caption underneath is how you add context.
That same job record is also where the estimate and invoice live once you're ready to bill. Hours, photos, and paperwork all sit on one job instead of three different apps.
The Before Photo
One photo can end a dispute before it starts
The crack was already there. Now you can prove it.
A client says you cracked the tile, stained the concrete, or scuffed the trim on day one. Without a photo, that's a conversation. With one, timestamped, tagged Before, and sitting right on the job it was taken for, it's evidence.
The photo only holds up if you can actually find it three weeks later. A shot buried in a camera roll with five thousand others, or scrolled past in a group text, doesn't help you the day you actually need it. Tagging it Before and leaving it on the job is what makes it findable when it matters.
And when it's time to bill, you can put those photos right on the estimate or invoice PDF. You pick which ones, and the client sees the proof next to the price. Most invoicing apps can't do that, and Werkly vs Joist walks through how the closest one handles it.

How many photos can I add per job?
5 photos per job on the free tier, 50 per job on Pro. If you hit the cap, Werkly tells you why instead of quietly failing to save the shot.
Can I take photos directly in the app, or do I have to use my camera roll first?
Both. You can shoot directly in the app, or add photos from your library instead. Either way, it uploads the moment you pick or capture it. There's no separate review or staging step.
Can I label photos as before/after or add notes to them?
Yes. Every photo gets a category (Before, After, Progress, or Other) and an optional caption, set right on the photo itself.
Can I draw on or mark up a photo (arrows, circles, notes on the image itself)?
No. Werkly doesn't have photo annotation or markup today: no arrows, shapes, or text drawn on the image. A caption underneath the photo is the only way to add context.
Can I send a client a shareable gallery link of the job photos?
A photo leaves the app the same way any photo on your phone does: through iOS's own share sheet, as a text, email, or however you'd normally send it. Sending a client a hosted gallery link instead isn't something Werkly does today. If that's what you'd want, tell us.
