Drywall doesn't price on one number. Some markets run per square foot, some per board foot, some per sheet, and plenty of contractors split hanging from taping and finishing from sanding instead of quoting the whole job flat. Werkly's estimate is a list of editable line items, not a fixed formula, so however you already price a job, it fits without a fight. That's the whole app: built for one person's business, not a five-person crew running a sales pipeline.
Name the finish level right on the bid. A Level 5 skim coat prices nothing like a Level 4, and writing "Level 5, full skim, client's accent wall" as a line item or a job note means the scope on the estimate is what actually gets built, not a surprise once the mud's on the wall.
Need a deposit before you start? Write it on the estimate as a note, something like "$300 deposit due before hang day." Werkly doesn't calculate or collect that deposit for you. It's a line you type, not a number the app works out.
Every estimate has a real lifecycle: draft, then sent, then accepted or declined. Client wants a cheaper finish level instead? Reopen it and send again instead of starting from a blank page.
Track
Hang Day, Tape Day, Sand Day, One Job
A real drywall job is rarely one visit. Hang the board, come back to tape and float the first coat, come back again for the second coat, come back once more to sand. Werkly's job is one record that holds every one of those visits, so you're not piecing the job back together from memory when it's time to bill.
Log hours each time you're back, billed Hourly or Fixed per job. A fixed-bid job shows your effective hourly rate too, so you can see after the fact whether that per-square-foot number actually paid.
Add a note the moment it matters: "Level 5, full skim" or "matching existing orange-peel texture." It's sitting right on the job for the crew, the second coat, or a touch-up call six months out.
Shoot a photo before the board goes up and before the mud closes the seam. Once it's taped, whatever was behind that wall (wiring, insulation, an existing crack) is gone from view, and the photo taken before you closed it up is the only record that survives. Sand day leaves dust behind too. Put cleanup on its own line instead of leaving it for the painter who shows up next.

The Before-the-Mud Shot, Right on the Bill
Turn the job into an invoice when it's done, or bill it per visit if that fits the job better. Tax applies per line item, a document-level discount if you're knocking something off, and every invoice numbers itself.
On Pro, pick up to 10 job photos, put them in your own order, captions included, and they print right on the invoice PDF. The shot of the wiring and insulation before the board went up is right there on the document the client, or the GC, actually sees.
Nobody selling to a solo drywall contractor does both halves of that. The calculator tools that get the board count right don't put a photo on the document, and the CRM platforms with a document don't know what a finish level is.
Get Paid
Deposit on the Big Hang, Paid in Full on the Patch
Drywall jobs don't all get paid the same way. Werkly tracks whichever one you're running.
A small patch usually gets paid in full the day it's done. A full hang-tape-finish job might take a deposit up front and a balance on completion, maybe a payment partway through on a bigger one. Record each payment against the invoice and Werkly tracks paid-to-date and a real running balance, not just a paid-or-not flag.
It only says PAID IN FULL once the balance actually hits zero. Cash on patch day, a check for the deposit, a Zelle for the rest, however it actually comes in.
Add your own payment instructions and they print right on the invoice. The moment a job is marked paid, Werkly sends an automatic review request, worth having in a trade that leans on GC referrals and repeat remodel work.

Everything above is live in the app today. Here's where it stops, so you know before you download it:
- You price the job you've already scoped. Werkly doesn't turn room dimensions or a blueprint into a board count or mud quantity. The estimate is just the line items you build, not a calculator's guess.
- Payment happens your way today: send the PDF, then record cash, check, Zelle, or Venmo against a real running balance. Deposits and milestone payments are notes you write on the estimate, not amounts Werkly calculates or collects. Online payments, e-signature, and QuickBooks sync aren't in the app yet. They're on the roadmap: tell us which one you need first.
- Werkly tracks and bills each visit, hang day, tape and coat, sand day, as you actually do it. A job doesn't hold a booked-ahead date: scheduling isn't in the app yet, it's on the roadmap too.
- A paid helper on the job is completely fine. It's one login, one person's jobs, by design, so that helper doesn't get an app account of their own. That matters more for drywall than most trades, since hang, tape, and finish are often separate people.
- With no signal you can still view saved jobs, notes, photos, and hours. Adding or editing needs a connection. It's an iPhone app; Android's on the roadmap too.

Is there an app to estimate drywall jobs?
Yes. Werkly's estimates are editable line items you price your own way: per square foot, per board foot, per sheet, or a flat job price. It's not a board-count calculator, so you're pricing the job, not letting the app guess your material count.
Does the app calculate how many sheets of drywall or how much mud I need?
No, and that's worth knowing before you download it. Werkly has no takeoff or coverage calculator: no sheet count, no mud or tape quantity, nothing pulled from room dimensions or a blueprint. Its strength is the job record and the billing around the estimate, not the material math itself.
Can I note the finish level, Level 3, 4, or 5, so it's actually part of the bid?
Yes. Add it to a line item or a job note. A full skim for Level 5 prices very differently than a Level 4, so putting it on the bid means the scope the crew builds is what the client agreed to pay for.
How do I bill a job that's really several visits, hang one day, tape and coat over the next few?
One job holds every visit. Log hours and a note each time you're back, tag photos by visit, and invoice once when the whole thing's done, or per visit if that fits the job better.
Can I put a before photo on the invoice showing what was behind the wall?

Is a small patch job priced differently than a full hang in the app?
It's the same job type either way, one record, priced however that visit actually calls for: a flat patch price, or a per-square-foot or per-board rate for a full hang. A patch might be part of a bigger handyman punch list too; Werkly treats it the same.
Does Werkly work if my drywall job runs a hang crew, a tape crew, and a separate finish pass?
Not through separate logins. Werkly is one account holding one person's jobs, and that part is by design. It matters more for drywall than most trades, since hang, tape, and finish are often separate people. Paying a helper who doesn't need their own access works fine. A real multi-crew operation is worth knowing about before you download.
